Baccarat Stand By Mode Explained

Most baccarat players join a game mid-shoe. Stand By mode solves the problem of entering previous results without affecting your bankroll — so you can get your tracking up to date before betting.

The Problem with Joining Mid-Shoe

When you sit down at a baccarat table, the shoe is usually already in progress. You need to enter the previous results to see the patterns and get your strategy in sync — but you don't want those historical entries to affect your bankroll or bet calculations.

How Stand By Mode Works

In Stand By mode, you record results normally but no bets are counted. Your bankroll stays unchanged. Recommendations and sequences are calculated but not tracked as real bets.

Once you've entered all previous results, you switch to Live mode and start betting normally.

Step by Step — Joining Mid-Shoe

1. Sit down at the table
2. Open BaccaratEdge and activate Stand By mode
3. Look at the casino's scorecard and enter all previous results
4. When you're caught up to the current hand, switch to Live mode
5. Your first bet recommendation is now based on the complete shoe history

Stand By During Pauses

You can also use Stand By during breaks in your session — if you want to observe a few hands before betting again, simply switch to Stand By and continue tracking without committing real bets.

Stand By in BaccaratEdge

Stand By mode is available in the free version of BaccaratEdge. Simply tap the Live/Stand By toggle at the top of the screen to switch between modes. The status bar clearly shows whether you're live or in Stand By at all times.
